[Edu] Meet Hajiya Hassu Iro Inko; The first female Degree graduate In Katsina State (Video)

Born in Kankia town on November 10 1936. She received her Elementary education in Mani (1942-43). Federal school Katsina (1944), Government girls School Sokoto (1945), Middle School Katsina (1946-47), Government Girls School Kano (1947-49). Women Teachers College Kano (1950-51), she was at the Advanced teachers’ College Zaria (1969-71) for the national Certificate in Education course, In 1972, she obtained a Diploma at the Institute of Education.

ABU Zaria, between 1971 and 1972 she studied at the Ahmadu Bello University where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in education thus becoming the first female graduate in Katsina State.

She also studied at the Nottingham University England (1972-73). Hajiya Hassu had worked at various levels, starting as a primary school teacher (1952-54) headmistress (1965-69) and Principal 1973-1976.
She was the Federal Electoral Commissioner for Lagos (1976-78), Minna (1979), Abuja (1980-82) and Kano (1983).

At State level, she was the Chief Education Officer (women) at the state Ministry of Education and one time Chairperson of Dutsinma and Rimi Local Governments.

She was recipient of various Awards including the member of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 1998.

National Merit Award by national Council of Women Societies (1996) and Merit Award by Gidauniyar Jihaar Katsina. She retired 1992 and died thereafter.
