GAS A JEKYLL AND HYDE,OME MMA,OME NJO; IF YOU ARE NOT CAUTIOUS ENOUGH TO HANDLE,GET A STOVE work of E.A.GRAHAMS
What are our scientists and researchers doing regarding the explosiveness of gas which is becoming rampant with days and gas consumption and displacement of kerosene in our kitchens increasing with alarming alacrity?.What are our Nigerian students in the fields of science and research doing to quell the tide? A university is a centre of research, specialization and development.A post-primary school is a step off the basics which is structured to ask questions why absurdities, excesses and laxities happen, carry out hypothesis, tests and proffer solutions. Our science students in the secondary schools are not left out too. Most of the inventors and innovators we read about today achieved their feats at a very incredible age.If bombs can be detonated, water can be made to travel up-tank beating the gravitational pull and drags and hiccups,if ships can float on seas,if Orville and Wilbur Wright the two American brothers in the early 20th century can cause an aircraft have a walk in the air with all its density of structure and passengers, why are our researchers yet to think of or come up with what to make stay mild or detonate the explosive potency of gas.Everyday, explosions are happening next door ,lives are lost, properties worth millions go down the drain and plaaaa!the same time, thousands of Nigerians are sending their stoves into the refuse dumps and picking up a cylinder from the nearest shop, opening doors to more untimely deaths, maims and blames. If gas cannot behave well in our hands. If we cannot culture gas to be an animal of co-existential harmonics with man,why then do we go for what we cannot handle? Why do we go for what will pause our breaths into a corpse and leave the entire mundo of our dependencies in infinitessimal lagrima? Why then do we go for what will leave us homeless, wifeless, fatherless, husbandless, motherless, employerless, employeeless and childless? It makes me wanna cry when everyday I look out through my window and see underaged kids with gas cylinders on their heads, their hands even their backs doing let's go dancing uhlalalaa..It worries me knowing that those children are sitting on a carbide tank explosive idiotic of a bombshell and I always ask "ndi muru umuaka a amakwa ife fa na eme"(are the parents of these kids in compos mentis of what they do) It frightens me to know that the parents of those kids on their own willingly gave their kids a lethal letter of legal suicide to go die on the mount and in the vale. Admittedly, life is a risk on its own covert or overt but it has always being an admissible age-long practice to throw a block of moderation,a block of precaution and a block of abstinence to a flood that can wash our feet off course.
If our generators still make noise causing environmental havoc in the neighbourhood. If it still sends out toxic carbon (ii)oxide same as we get from an exposed sewage tank leading to the death of many.If our cars still queue on congested roads for hours without an option of flying-off the spot and landing elsewhere where the road is freer to continue on its acceleration, then science, technology, innovation and research is still lying cold and sleeping old like a scolded log.
A CHALLENGE TO OUR STUDENTS AND RESEARCHERS TO CHALLENGE! DON'T BITE ME,GET UP AND GO!
